Pauls's Funky Indie Haircut. Deep Texturing. Chipping in will not do the job properly. Discovering, and Mastering, these incredible Texturising scissors, much like learning from Mike, changed the dynamics of my career, even when I was pretty much packed out, with 6 staff, who were also very busy.
Use these 8 teeth scissors without training and you will damage/mess-up your clients hairstyle, your reputation and your career, so just don't, unless you already have mastered them. If you have please let me know so I don't feel so lonely...... ; o }
Strength Barbering. Without the right foundations, things fall apart or fall down. It's no different in any construction work, including hairstyling.
Build a firm base and all is good. Strength haircutting, blunt haircutting, is that base foundation. I know that some razored, sliced, "chipped-in" haircuts can look cool, until they get home. The strength of shape of every haircut, is everything. Every time.
Unfortunately, many people are too polite or timid to complain, they just seek a better haircutter, complain to their friends, and never return.
And yes, I have messed up a few times (over 40 years) as we all do. No-one is perfect. Least of all our clients! ; O }
A great tip that I often said too my clients in consultation. "I can always cut more off, I can never put it back on". Obviously this does not apply to number 1 and 2 clippercuts.
I had the peasure of working with Steve at Palace Barbers for a few years. Amazing man, amazing place.
Over the years, I have seen both Ladies and Gents haircutters struggle with long haircutting and frankly, usually fail to produce a fabulous, client gaining, result. I hope this offends no-one, and it won't offend smart haircutters, who wish to excel. I have on the odd occasion failed at this too. Lost the client. Hurt like Hell.
Fortunately, 95% + of my clients were delighted and stuck with me wherever I roamed. Why did I roam?
It's a tough job. I'm restless, I have certain OCD tendencies, occasional, not obsessive, and long term PTSD. 1950's kid. War-torn Britain. And, it's a tough job. We are councellors to some degree. We deal with all manner of mental health issues. One of my escapes was to write. I sincerely hope I have not offended anyone with my confidence, but if I have, well, that's your problem. I wasn't as confident during my final farewell, a 3 years long, crippling, nervous breakdown. Now fully recovered. So if you are struggling, seek help, tell some-one and talk to your Doctor. I'm only too happy to support you, privately and confidentially, without any judgements as I have, outside work, well and truly, messed up a lot.
In a society that has a rising eldery population, and disintegrating economy, Hairstylists and Barbers, like most other industries, need to take action now. If you are in the tiny majority of Hair Salons that are thriving, in this economy, power to you. I doubt very much there is one who has not taken a bit of a hit over the last few years.

Many of our haircuts are on weak and thinning hair, get this right as no haircut is more important than any other, except in those Glam Hair Shows. I could so easily "envy" the ability of the stylists, who also have to deal with local, hard-working, hard-pressed clients. You will do very few Avant' Garde haircuts and a whole lot more of these everyday haircuts. If you are not in-demand, very busy, happy at work, happy with your income, I guarantee these courses will change that, if you study them.

Young Lad. Thick Hair. Heavily Textured. I use 8 teeth Jaguar scissors as I like them as inexpensive and quality tools, and 8 teeth are the best for Advanced Texturing. I have used these amazing scissors for about 25 years.
